Last week, New Energy Works & Pioneer Millworks lost an incredible member of our community, Karen Parkhurst, who passed away on 12/4/25 after a short illness. Our very first finance manager (1993-2016), Karen was so much more than that to many of us. As Jonathan Orpin put it, "Karen was a powerful presence, loved and sometimes feared, by all who worked with her. She would solve your problem after giving you the what’sall for having the problem in the first place. And if you needed it, she’d hand out hugs with the same ferocity." It was so very true. 

We'll miss you terribly Karen. Thank you for everything you did for each of us, for our companies, our local community, and the international community as well. You were a gift. More information on Karen, and the work she did for others, here.
