Curving on Puget Sound
This home feeds the homeowners’ passions: boating, family time, and entertaining. When plans began, the design was traditional but, “the more we looked at the site and the possible views, the more the design transitioned and evolved. We angled the house in a soft arc which maximizes views of the Sound and the Cascade Mountain range in the distance,” explains David Shirley, AIA.
The upper level carries a polished feel with curving, smooth re-sawn reclaimed timbers for the frame. The lower level rec space–golf simulator, bar, kids’ area–uses a rugged frame with as-found, rough sawn reclaimed timbers. A timber frame home for family and friends to engage.
“When my wife and I decided to build a timber frame home on Puget Sound a friend set up a meeting with Jonathan. After that meeting, we knew we had found our timber frame company. The design team listened to what was important to us and turned those ideas into an amazing house. I can’t imagine living anywhere else.”
