“While out motorcycling on Sauvie Island, along the Columbia River, Jonathan and the kids spotted these two Bald Eagles perched on a snag.  

The magnificent birds that represent the greatness of our country were on the brink of extinction when the Endangered Species Act came to be in 1973, under President Richard Nixon and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that he founded.

Aided by reintroduction programs, the result is a wildlife success story—in 2007 their status was upgraded from endangered to least concern.
