A Home with History
The structure was originally built in the 1800’s as a cow barn and repurposed for use as a home in the 1950’s by a Broadway set designer. Back in 2003, when we expanded this converted barn-home with Douglas fir timbers, Eileen’s twin sons were only a year old.
An email came in recently from Eileen, who shared this photo of the well-loved family home with us. Her sons, now college age, had recently moved out of the house. For us, the raising feels like it just happened yesterday. It was a reminder that when we build a house, it is more than just shelter; it is a place where kids grow up, families bond, and memories are made.
Our kids were toddlers when we first built this house, and they went through all of the milestones of childhood and growing up in this home. I can picture back to all the years of our kids being here playing in the yard, having friends over, and family dinners…all of that. We have so many great memories in this house.
