Style of Surprise
A city-dwelling family built their dream home in the woods: a mountain house reminiscent of the western ski lodges they love, just a bit north from New York City along Lake Surprise. A massive stone fireplace is central within the classically soaring timber frame great room. The kitchen, mudroom, and garage flank the great room to the right; the master suite to the left. A timber stairway leads up to bedrooms and an office. Another stone fireplace dominates the outdoor living room.
Outside, a swooping timber rafter over the patio lends a bit of whimsy and a modern air to the mountain aesthetic. A dark finish harmonizes the Douglas fir timbers to the cedar siding, allowing the home to sit comfortably in the wooded surroundings.
"My experience with New Energy Works was completely first-rate. I was seriously impressed with their professionalism and their high-quality work. From starting the design for the timber frame until the frame was raised and handed over to the GC, New Energy Works was there for us.”
