Naturally New England
This custom country home in New England features extensive interior and exterior timber work. The interior utilized re-sawn reclaimed White Oak timbers provided by our sister company Pioneer Millworks, and the exterior features Western Red Cedar trellises and rafter components with a custom finish to help them blend in seamlessly.
The Oak timbers were reclaimed from the Chippewa Farm in Orrville, Ohio. Based on the curved hewn shape of the timbers featured at the entry points of the original barn, it is believed to have been built in the mid-1800’s by former shipbuilders, replicating some of the timbercuts they employed as shipwrights.
“Anytime we have an opportunity to use reclaimed timbers on a project, our team gets really inspired. Working with reclaimed timbers allows us to honor the craft and tradition of timber framing and bring a sense of history to a new structure.”
