Land of Ah's
Perched on a bluff in Salina, Kansas, and overlooking a wildlife preserve, this home is an artistry of design and materials. We started early in collaboration between our timber frame design team and David of Exline design. The house was inspired by the blend of contemporary lines and traditional prairie craftsmanship. The great room borrows design cues from the entry hall, which re-imagined clusters of timber posts as trees branching overhead.
Quad timber posts, metal strapping, square-ended pegs, indigenous Kansas limestone walls, custom stained glass; this project embodies American Craftsman styling.
“Working with New Energy Works was a pleasure from the very first day we called until the final pegs were driven and the forged iron straps were cinched into place. As the architect on this job, we had a general sense of how the timber frame was to be integrated into the overall structure, but the expertise of their design team took our concepts to an entirely different level. Their assistance with the design and detailing of this exceptional timber frame was first rate.”
