Lake Living in the Finger Lakes
Skaneateles, NY
Located in a small town in the Finger Lakes region of western NY, this home offers a graceful vernacular with steeply curved trusses and split posts. The frame juxtaposes vaulted, soft curved forms against the hard lines of the structure. On the north end of a lake, the boathouse serves not only as a boat shelter but as a three-season retreat and party space. It was also the inspiration for the family's timber frame home located just up the hill. Parallel chord Douglas fir trusses provide structure for a long clear span eliminating the need for numerous timber posts.
