We’re looking for a client facing Project Architect to join our imaginative design team in Farmington, NY. This role is a critical part of our in-house design team and will include the design, drafting, and documentation of custom-residential and high-performance projects in various states around the country. This role will manage and design their own projects with assistance and oversight from the Design Manager.

The Project Architect will also develop design concepts, as well as manage client communications, schedules, and deliverables for those projects.

 

There is also the potential to grow into client/project initiation, sales-lead, design-lead, and limited group management responsibilities.

 

The ideal candidate will require minimal training in Revit and the architectural design process and can jump right into our workflow, eventually operating semi-independently as one of our lead design Architects. Strong communication skills, creativity, quick-learning, adaptability, and the ability to manage/prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced supportive environment is a must.

 

Required Education:

 

  • Four-year Degree or higher in Architecture or related field.

 

Required Experience:

 

  • 4-8 years of experience in an architectural setting.
  • Ability to use Autodesk Revit to model and complete construction drawings.
  • Basic skill in Microsoft Word and Excel (other MS Office programs a plus).
  • Strong Written and Verbal communication skills.
  • Teamwork and Networking skills.
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and communicate effectively with clients and coworkers.
  • Ability to juggle multiple project deadlines.


Preferred Experience:

 

  • Architect’s License in NYS.
  • Background or interest in sustainable design or timberframe.
  • Experience managing small to medium architectural projects.
  • Experience in residential design and/or high-performance design.
  • Experience using Enscape for rendering.
  • Passion for sustainability and building science.
  • Experience managing/mentoring coworkers with less experience.

For Pay Transparence: Compensation Description (annually or hourly)

 

The base salary range for this position is $70k-$90k

 

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.

Overview

 

The Project Architect works with the Design Manager to develop and document all aspects of design projects on-site in our Farmington NY office/studio. The Project Architect works semi-autonomously to develop concept designs for projects based on client feedback. The responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to): Sales, local site/code/zoning research, Revit modeling of initial design, working within Enscape to develop visuals, initial timber frame modeling, develop construction drawings based on redlines and comments, interface with Clients during project design meetings, manage client meetings and interactions, emails with client, take notes and organize project notes, coordinate directly with consultants as needed.

 

Expectations include meeting strict deadlines, managing client expectations, managing client communications, taking diligent notes during meetings, setting up project files, gathering zoning/site information, developing designs based on meeting notes, creating strong presentation visuals, sharing knowledge with less experienced coworkers, managing project schedules with contractors, drafting construction drawings that match our performance values, as well as communicating effectively with clients and coworkers.

Sales Leads

 

  • Assist with meeting with potential clients and describing our process, demonstrating our value, gathering information in order to give a proposal.
  • Represent the company effectively at tradeshows and local events (limited basis).
  • Outward/public facing as needed.

 

Project Initiation

 

  • Assist with gathering site and project zoning information in an organized manner for later reference.
  • Set up new project Revit files per New Energy Works standards.
  • Code review as necessary.

 

Schematic Design Modeling and Visuals

 

  • Develop initial concept design in collaboration with the Design Manager.
  • Initial Revit modeling for concept design.
  • Establish and develop materials and renderings within Enscape for Client presentations.
  • Source Revit families specific to project and place them in the file.
  • Develop programmatic ideas based on notes from client meetings.
  • Manage client communication and set up client meetings.

 

Construction Drawing Documentation

 

  • Set up construction drawing sets within Revit.
  • Draw plans, elevations, sections, and details in Revit with little redlining from Design Manager.
  • Coordinate as needed with consultants and contractors.
  • Meet/manage deadlines specific to construction.
  • Manage client communication and set up client meetings.

 

Misc.

 

  • Review and redline sets from coworkers.
  • Special Projects as assigned.
  • Assist with updating office Revit drafting standards.
  • Travel as assigned.
  • Proficiency with verbal and written communication including common computer applications (Microsoft word, Excel, Web, Email, Phone, and text etc.)
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
