Cabinet Designer and Project Manager (Woodworking)–NY

We’re looking to add a Cabinet Vision expert, designer, and project manager to our custom woodworking shop. Someone who can talk with clients, lead our design/production technology interface, and be a bridge to our craftsmen.

The Job: This position’s main duties are to speak with clients about their vision, design & detail shop/production drawings in Cabinet Vision, and along with project management.

  • Designs & details in Cabinet Vision the ideas of clients and coworkers (this position will work alongside our in-house architectural department for pieces as needed)
  • Translates these plans to craftsmen
  • Speaks with clients/coworkers to understand vision/need
  • Help manage timelines and expectations with clients/coworkers

Skills:

  • 5+ years experience in the role of project management or design with a high-end woodworking group.
  • A firm grasp of computer driven design technology. We’d love it if you’re a “Cabinet Vision Jockey”.
  • Integration with our CNC. We’re looking for someone to help us get to the next level of screen to machine.
  • Excellent math and computer skills.
  • Hands-on woodworking experience. You don’t have to be a master, but you’ll have to translate ideas to implementable pieces, so you need to know how wood works.
  • Ability to work with a cross-section of people: clients, coworkers, craftsmen.
  • Good communication skills. You’ll be a primary point of contact so you must be articulate, kind, and clear.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail. You’re the driver of timelines and keeping expectations.

Other thoughts:

  • Experience with reclaimed wood or fine woodworking within timber frames is a major plus
  • Interior Design, Industrial Design, or similar schooling is helpful
