Great Lakes Chalet
Lake Lapeer, MI
Built on the shoreline of Lake Lapeer, with parking for the client’s hydroplane, this home was inspired by the ardent timberwork of an alpine chalet. A series of hammer beam bents, classic to the modern timber frame revival of the last few decades, begins at the front entry and continues through the communal spaces of the interior to the back porch overlooking the lake.
“I love the covered areas. I enjoy going outside every morning to have my coffee, and then again in the evening for a margarita and a cigar.”
