The design goal for this project in South Bristol, New York was to create the dream mountain home for a young couple. Their vision was inspired by materials and styles from the mountain towns of Utah. The combined use of vertical barn board, exposed timbers, and stone base, work together to achieve the mountain style vernacular.
The south facing elevation captures the private end of the house where the grade at the walkout transitions towards the pond. The family is looking forward to the accessibility of their home to the surrounding outdoor environment through all seasons. Their home shares a pond with another family member's timber cabin, both with access to Bristol Mountain.
