New Rambling Farmhouse

A conceptual challenge was proposed to make this Virginia new build feel like an old farmhouse that had been added on to, while existing on-site for generations. With a prominent river cutting through the land, the home is oriented so views can look straight down the rapids. Cues from the surrounding environment spurred the natural stone and wood material palette all are juxtaposed with simple forms and modern lines that is further enhanced with subtle steel detailing in this hybrid timber frame home.
